- Diabetes mellitus (sometimes called "sugar diabetes") is a group of diseases characterized by high blood glucose levels that result from defects in the body's ability to produce and/or use insulin.
- Glucose (a type of sugar) is the main source of energy for the body's cells and it's comes from the foods your eat.
- The levels of glucose in the blood are controlled by the hormone insulin, which is made by the pancreas. However, glucose cannot enter our cells without insulin being present. The insulin makes it possible for our cells to take in the glucose.
- The diabetes has differents conditions like diabetes type 1 and 2, gestational, hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia.
